Didn't give him a chance at all. I think Westphal plays him more and allows for a more free flowing offense that is better suited to Jimmer's style of play.
But ultimately, Jimmer didn't have good enough ball handling to be the primary PG, didn't create shots for others, was a ball stopper and a defensive liability. And then he never really adjusted his game to become a 3pt specialist ala JJ Reddick.
His confidence definitely became an issue and affected his shooting. I blame that on Keith Smart.
But unless he changed the way he played to contribute defensively, play off the ball, and hit open threes like a Caruso or even a guy like Delladova - then there just isn't really a place for him in the league anymore.
