That drive is 40 minutes. Once we got there UTA was shuttling people from frontrunner to the base but at 10:45 am they were announcing the base was at capacity and they would not be allowing anyone in.
So of course everyone started lining up to get back on a southbound train to go home causing a massive mess at the station.
We decided to go north to Ogden and come back south before the throngs of people tried to get on at the Clearfield stop. On our way from Ogden to Clearfield I checked the Hill AFB twitter account and they were reporting the base open and to proceed to the west and east gates. Get back to the Clearfield stop and UTA makes another announcement that the base is closed but seeing the tweet we get off anyway while hundreds of angry people get on the train to head home.
Well sure enough, UTA was wrong, the base was open and we got right in and had a great time. Left early to avoid the mess but still took us a couple of hours to get back to the car.
Should have just driven, would have been way faster and a little cheaper as well. Oh well, still had a good time
