Two ideas on this:
1. The player hit goes to 2nd base instead of first. Just going to first is not enough of a deterrent, unless there are already players on base.
2. Automatic ejection of the pitcher. This one is way more harsh but it would make the individual player more accountable. It would also really screw with starting rotations, potentially, which may get the coaches to teach better control.
