Capitol Gorge trail which is basically a wash. The trail isn't long. Up and back about 4.4 miles. About halfway my wife notices that I am wearing my game face and while sitting taking a break she asks why I seem so intense. I told her that whenever I am out in an area I am unfamiliar with I am always paying attention and noting areas of safety. I told her the two things that concerned me was being out too late and being stuck in the wash during dusk when Mountain Lions tend to begin looking for food. The other thing was checking for high ground in case of a sudden storm. (It was 90 degrees and sunny). I pointed out a rise out of the wash and told her if we heard any rumbling that's where we would immediately head to clear the wash. She though I was silly and I laughed and said yeah maybe I am. We enjoyed the rest of our hike and left.
Fast forward one week. Weather still warm and sunny. However sudden storm showed up and several people had to be rescued out of that same wash due to flash flood. My wife was shocked as she was the one showing me the videos. Yes It is nice to feel appreciated for being "silly" sometimes.
