all 5 conference played both conference and non-conference games. Most had 10-12 games on the schedule though most did have some games cancelled due to to Covid. We played against multiple teams from west of the Mississippi that played full schedules as well. Texas St and UTSA both played full 12-game schedules. Louisiana Tech played 10 games. Houston played 9 games but had a full slate scheduled, but a couple games cancelled due to Covid outbreaks.

The comments the national media made about BYU being the only team out west didn't have to do with being the only team west of the Mississippi playing as there were many other teams west of the Mississippi playing a full schedule as well. The comments were saying BYU was the only team in the entire Mountain and Pacific time zones playing a full schedule - and for a while they were the only team in those time zones even playing at all until the P12 and MWC reversed course and decided to play a shortened conference-only slate.
