I love Gobert AND I think this trade is amazing for the Jazz. Relevant points...
1. Gobert worked harder than anyone out there and improved consistently.
2. He absolutely changes the game with his unique shot changing abilities.
3. For a team to be successful with Gobert they have to play one way and can't adjust very much unless they sit a max player for an extended amount of time.
4. Regular season Rudy was more effective than playoff Rudy (same could be said for the team as a whole).
5. Rudy just turned 30 years old. I have no doubt he can still be great for a couple of years but getting 4 1st round picks (plus first round pick from last year) and some decent players - Beasley, Beverly) is freaking amazing.
6. Donovan (age 25) has also improved every year (except for this year). Perhaps this move will energize him to more fully step into leadership role. Seems like both Rudy and Donovan believed it was THEIR team and this may have been an underlying chemistry issue - aside from any personality differences they had.
7. Suddenly Jazz have major flexibility where they had very little last week. They got 6 first round picks in the past two days (including Walker Kessler). This gives them so much flexibility in the short, medium, and long term. I can see them building around Donovan to continue to contend in the West while also having the option to move on from Mitchell before his contact expires if it isn't working out.
8. For some reason, a lot of NBA players and fans don't respect Gobert. Makes me like him more but not sure how it plays out in team chemistry. He does come across as a bit of a lone wolf - someone that may be hard to connect with.
9. Minnesota hasn't gone deep in the playoffs for a while. There's a good chance that some of these picks could be pretty good ones.

I'll be cheering for Rudy to fit in and do great with Minnesota and hoping that the shakeup makes Utah and Donovan better - especially come playoff time.
