Honestly, B1G would have to expand to 26 teams to get that far.
There are literally 8 teams ahead of Utah right now if AAU is an important criterion:
Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Maryland, Duke, Virginia, Georgia Tech, and Colorado.
If not, you can add Florida State and Miami and likely a couple more. Don't think that recent football success weighs heavy. These guys are looking at strength and prestige of Alumni and what TV market you carry. Success will take care of itself when you elevate them.
