I grew up and live in HB here's my advice
1. GO TO THE BEACH EARLY!!!! Starting at noon the wind picks up. The best time is from 10:00am to noon. Paid parking during a weekday won't be a problem. A good area is by the naked surfer statue.

2. Fiesta Grill is where you want to eat. Minimal lines and everyone will think you're a local. You can wait 45 minutes for Sancho's Tacos if you really want to but Fiesta Grill is where it's at.

3. Dougnuttery has the best doughnuts and I think it's open 24/7.

4. If you want to see a movie go to the theater in Westminster. Tickets are around $12 instead of Bella Terra which cost $20+. There's an in n out and bowling close to the Westminster theater.

5. Grab some boogie boards on offer up day 1. I have just as much fun boogie boarding as I do surfing.

6. Crescent Bay in Laguna is a really fun beach but don't go on the weekend and if you do go be prepared to fight for parking.

7. Disneyland is a nightmare world this time of year full of adult children willing to wait 2 hours for peter pan. Don't do it. Go to Knott's Berry Farm instead. As always go during a weekday.

8. If you want to play pickleball use the courts next to Huntington Beach highschool.

9. Walk the pier at sunset. It's fun to people watch and you can get out of there quick once the sun is down and it gets cold.

10. Bonfires are fun but it's notoriously hard to reserve a pit at the state beaches. Make sure you plan a bonfire on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.

11. Pacific City is a gentrified money trap. AVOID AT ALL COST. Downtown Huntington around Jack's and HSS is way better for shopping.

12. Angels games are awesome and cheap. Tickets go $5 and parking is $10. The stadium is 30 minutes away and traffic is minimal to none. The food is good and it's a great way to spend a summer night.
