Nope. It’s a strategic move based on survival. Here’s what I mean:
After all I’ve read, ND is not likely to take the bait and join the B1G (I can list reasons if you’d like). Given that, the B1G is gonna need some partners to go with USC and UCLA. Oregon and Washington make the most sense, they are both AAU teams and are the two most valuable PAC12 teams left. The B1G will eventually take them. So they are worthy and waiting for a B1G invitation. They will not readily join the BIG12.

BUT, what if the PAC12 were destroyed or diminished to a pathetic state. With ASU, UA, UTAH, and CU gone, the PAC12 will be 6 teams and will be forced to add 6 MWC teams to survive. Oregon and UW WILL NOT STOMACH THAT.

So, if the B1G has not taken them at that point, they will BEG to join the BIG12.

We want the Big12 to be too big if anything. Why? To insulate us from further pirating by the 2 mega conferences. That’s my take.
