If you and I both know that they're losing their top teams as soon as the GOR expires, it's a good bet they know it too.

So what environment do they want that to happen in? There's clearly going to be the Super 2, but beyond that the options are

1. Only one other conference of note (Big 12) as the clear #3 option for leftover teams
2. Two mediocre decapitated conferences of roughly equal value (PAC12 and Big 12) that their remnants would be loosely on par with
3. Only one other conference of note (PAC12, if they eat the Big 12), but a bit more geographically removed and already largely aligned/partnered with them.

The best case scenario for the ACC is probably #2, but even #3 is much better than #1
