Last year during the whole bowl game situation, I was in contact with someone who is a BYU employee that travels with the team and they were told to cancel their Christmas plans for the week after Christmas because BYU was being invited to a different (and better) bowl game. That didn't end up happening. No explanation was given. After bowl games were announced, my contact was approached by their boss and the boss apologized and said they could re-schedule their post-christmas plans
