The Big 12 isn't dumb enough to expect to receive the same media rights deal if OU & UW leave. Basically they'd be doing what they're doing now with OU & Texas, enjoy the gravy train while its lasts with the understanding that you're gonna take a hit when it ends. But its better to get that money now than never. The hope would be that between the last few years of TX/OU and a few years of UW/UO a couple of the long-term B12 members would emerge as national contenders in order to prop up the deal down the road.
