SEC/B1G plans to sit on top of college football as a closed ecosystem. They will have all the top coaches and players, play in the biggest stadiums and be the most "relevant". They and their media partners are betting you'll watch their games like you watch the NFL.

The rest of college football will play their less important games in smaller stadiums with cheaper broadcast talent and 2nd tier networks.
