An MRI shows a fractured top pubic bone, bruised top of the femur, bruised bottom pubic bone. That explains why the pain has subsided from an 8/10 but is still at a 3-4, and why I can walk (pubic bones aren't weight bearing). No surgery required, and this info would not have made a difference anyway--the treatment in a case like mine is to just let it heal on its own. But I also know now it wasn't all in my head.
