1) The B1G/SEC "need" the other conferences. Without the other 99 institutions, who are they going to play and who is going to watch. All of these "little guys" prop up the P5/Blue Bloods. If the B1G/SEC pull out, it's like killing the golden goose. 2/3 of the country will stop watching.

2) If the B1G/SEC create their own "league" and create a barrier to entry for the rest of college football, this is the surest way to get Big Brother involved, which nobody wants.
