There is every incentive for autonomous conferences staying intact,
even if it means restocking the membership with G5s.
CFP is jointly owned by all FBS schools but managed and operated by the conferences and Notre Dame
The votes of the autonomous conferences count as two and they each receive 14.3% of the distributed revenue. Last year, that amounted to $74M each. By comparison, the G5 shared $95M.
As long as the autonomous conferences exist, their autonomy cannot be rescinded.
