At the price point, they are going for the lifestyle market, 5' bed size is perfect. Any longer and your
Off road geometry sucks.
It looks like GMC is pulling out of the "professional grade" working trim altogether, where a 6' bed is required.
But it's hard to compete with Tacoma that can still sell you SR5 6' bed work trucks for <$30k.
