Sport for entertainment. Some fields have been able to turn that into a money making career, but not all and there are no guarantees. Womens soccer is probably the most vocal right now, but not the first group of athletes trying to make a career of sports. It can’t happen just because you want equal pay, you have to make your product something people are willing to pay for. Jimmer I’m sure would like Lebron money, but lebron has made a market out of his talents and Jimmer did pretty good with what he had. Womens sports can be profitable, but not through a welfare state like the wnba where they’re subsidized by the nba. Gotta find something people will put money behind and then you can make a career (or living wage). No one is forced to play sports, so no one owes athletes a living wage. No one pays me for my work unless I give them something they value in return.
