My wife dabbles in witchcraft, at least that is what I call it when she breaks
out the essential oils or 'natural remedies'. Fortunately, she is not a full blow witch (doesn't think rubbing essential oils on me will cure my CLL for example). However, I did fall for one of her spells this morning.

I get migraines that seem to be related to changes in barometric pressure, and I had one that kept me from getting much sleep last night. Apparently one of my wife's full blown witch acquaintances convinced her that snorting a small amount of cayenne pepper will cure a migraine. You can see where this is going, right? After much back and forth, I relented - I blame the pain of the migraine and lack of sleep on clouding my judgement.

The initial snort wasn't too bad, it was when it worked it's way deeper into my sinuses and eventually to the back of my throat that I really felt the burn. As to the effectiveness, I think it is akin to stomping on a person's toe to distract them from the pain they are feeling somewhere else in their body. In fairness, I haven't taken any drugs today and while I still have a headache it isn't a full blown migraine... That said, I think next time I'll stick to the Excedrin and a dark room.
