This was over a couple years: we raised three pigs as a family. The pigs lived in pens housed at the fairgrounds, so each afternoon we cleaned their pens, fed and watered them. During the first week in August both years I had a business trip to attend, so my wife and kids had to prep and show the pigs. She got to do the shaving with the hair trimmers. The kids had fun, and we got a taste of animal husbandry.

It was not a cheap project, but we allowed the kids to take all revenues from their auctions.
