I suppose I meant to convey Very Good Football Program. Your point about the recruiting and spending gap is spot on. These coaches have worked miracles the past few seasons.
As for this past week, I know I partook of the rat poison and was hugely guilty of recency bias. Oregon has been in the Pac 12 championship game 4 years in a row. I also wish the young men would have executed better. I didn't see a lack of effort. I believe if we had played them week 1 instead of week 3 the result would have been different. Anyway, football is funny. A year ago, Oregon beats Ohio State and gets worked by Utah who loses to Ohio State. This year, Appalachian State can beat A&M on the road one week and the next week need a last second score to beat Troy at home. A&M then beats a pretty good Miami team. Yesterday, BYU goes 0% on 4th downs and Oregon goes 100%.
I just know these young men and the coaches have given me a ton of joy and happiness the past few years and I refuse to ignore that after a bitterly disappointing game. I follow the Lavell Edwards philosophy of trying not to let things bother me that I have zero control over.
