Ish. Common nickname of my given name most places, but my given name in a few. I was hired at a job where someone else
with the same position as me also shared my first name and had a similar sounding last name. He already went by our nickname, so my boss had me go by my given name.
I spent 7 years in that position before starting my own company in our field, so my given name was more established and I kept going by it at work while staying with my nickname in my family and closer social circles.
Kinda weird, but it works.

I go by my middle name and it's a hassle. Please don't torture your child by calling them by their middle name.
