I was doing some Uber driving this afternoon, and wearing my BYU jersey. My last ride was a Ute fan. He noticed my jersey, and just had to share his Ute wisdom. I did not initiate any of this discussion. This is all on his own.

His first comment was, “I wish Utah played BYU this year, so we can start another 15 game streak. You know, Utah would’ve won last year, if Cam Rising had played.”

This is where I made my only comment. I said, “Cam is certainly a better quarterback than Charlie Brewer, but I think that Tavion Thomas also had a lot to do with the Utes improving later in the season last year. Tavion didn’t play much early in the season, but then was a star the second half of the season.”

His response, “Nah, it was all the QB.”
Then he added, “BYU just doesn’t recruit the athletes to compete with Utah. But once they get in that Big 12 conference, give them a couple years to recruit some athletes, and they might be good.”

I did not respond.
