Most of those bugs live in the Northern Hemisphere too. Look at a map...
Most of Africa, All of India and southeast Asia are in the Northern Hemisphere. Plenty of big bugs in those areas.
The only significant land masses south of the equator are 4/5ths of South America, Australia and about 1/3 of Africa.
