Not sure I follow your logic that calling daughter "sis" means you're trying too
hard to be cool. Families come up with different nicknames for kids, not sure why this is an issue at all.
I agree though that parent's should be parents first and not forgoe those responsibilities to be their child's buddy. But I think you can be a parent first and still have fun with them.
