On balance, he was cleared by independent concussion experts - not Miami doctors
Concussion related, or possibly concussion related, issues are overseen by independent doctors not affiliated with the team. They cleared him - don’t they have to trust the independent experts?

That this happened to Tua player is sad. But I have a hard time, unlike others apparently blaming the Dolphins organization, when they are not the ones who cleared him to play. The NFL put so much into the concussion issue a few years ago as far as safeguards because they saw the threat that concussed players, and those with CTE from past generations, had on the popularity of the game. Certainly all of us have reason to distrust the NFL and not believe it is a flag-waving, entirely ethical entity, but they also realize concussions are bad for them and so I'm much more inclined now than in the past to believe they really want to avoid concussed players getting back on the field. The Tua thing is a bad look though, thats for sure.
