It only becomes a bad thing when people go beyond frustration to cynicism and apathy. I certainly am guilty of approaching that territory at times. However, I think most BYU fans do well at cheering hard and enjoying the product on the field.
Yesterday was extremely frustrating and I have my own laundry list of concerns about discipline, coaching, and scheme (not to mention that asinine on-side kick that is still driving me bonkers). But I think it's also okay to give credit where credit is due - firstly to Utah State for having a stellar game plan, and secondly to BYU for coming alive in the 2nd half. And while it was extremely gratifying to hear Riddick, B-Logan, etc point out the obvious flaws in this team that are driving me crazy, it was also gratifying to see us beat a rival (yes, they're a rival) before not playing them for a while.
Some other things I liked:
- Ethan Erickson what a catch for your first Cougar TD!
- Harper has that dawg in him. What a player!
- Good to see Brooks get some mojo back. Played with fire in the 2nd half.
- Nyberg is quietly doing well in kick/punt returns. Had 94 cumulative yards. Reliable.
- Our starting QB did not get injured vs USU. I REPEAT, OUR STARTING QB DID NOT GET INJURED VS USU.
