I think it’s time we accept the fact that Kalani isn’t a great coach
The team is consistently not prepared for games, the coordinators seem clueless for large portions of the game, and coaching decisions are baffling (onside kick anyone??).

Kalani continues to shove oldroyd out on the field when it’s obvious he just doesn’t have it. The defense consistently gets steamrolled, and his best bud tuiaki doesn’t seem able to fix it.

His loyalty to players and to certain coaches does not indicate he will ever take BYU further than they already are. And to be honest, I’m not quite sure anyone really could with the limitations BYU will always have.

Everyone likes to gang up on tuiaki for obvious reasons, but kalani obviously isn’t able to fix the defensive problems either. The offense has its own problems, with some guaranteed head scratchers each week, but isn’t prone to the stagnancy the defense is.

I think it’s time for most of us to accept that he won’t ever be the great coach we want him to be. He’s a cheerleader, someone who is a great face to head the BYU football team. But any great success he has had has largely been a result of two great QBs and some pretty pitiful schedules (pac 12 last year was terrible).

Who should be the head coach then? Well, BYU doesn’t have many great options. And to be honest, as much as I think kalani is completely clueless, he is probably one of the better options for BYU football.

We need to lower our expectations. This is BYU after all
