I get that, but some unwritten rules start to kick in now that we are week 6.
Typically by this point, teams don't leapfrog unless the teams ahead lose or if there is at least one of an unusually impressive performance by the lower ranked team, an unusually unimpressive win by the higher ranked team, or both.

Another unwritten rule by this point, even if with an impressive performance a lower ranked 1 loss team won't leapfrog any of the undefeated teams.

Of the 1 loss teams ahead, Wake Forest #15 has an average opponent (army) this week, Kentucky #13 has an average opponent (South Carolina), and Oregon #12 has an average opponent (Arizona). Due to the head-to-head blowout, BYU is not going to leapfrog Oregon unless Oregon loses.

So BYU would need to convincingly beat Notre Dame to leapfrog either Kentucky or Wake Forest if either of these teams win unconvincingly.

Even if BYU wins, I don't see BYU convincingly beating Notre Dame.

#14 NC State plays Florida State, #11 Utah plays at undefeated UCLA. Those two opponents have name brand or strength as impressive as Notre Dame.

The other team ahead are undefeated, and beating an unranked team won't push one loss BYU ahead of any undefeated team.
