I think that demographic is more easily influenced by advertising.
Especially in the categories most commonly advertised, during sports programs - cars, trucks, travel, mortgage lenders, beer, etc.

I’ve always wondered why the “key demographic” ends at age 54. I know lots of 55-70 yo folks who spend plenty.
