The answer is practice. Loads of practice.
That is why you will hear announcers talk about QB and WR timing and why losing a starter is really painful. The hours they have spent knowing each others timing is critical to success. The WR has to also be really good at whipping his eyes around and seeing the ball so he can make an adjustment on the throw. This throw is amazing but if we are being hypercritical he has to step forward an extra step to catch it where if it had been slightly higher and more to his outside shoulder it would have hit him in perfect stride. That said the throw is darn near perfect and the timing fantastic. The route run is amazing too.
