When we lived in Columbus, I met multiple people who would brag about being in the tOSU marching band 20-30 years ago. Fans refer to it as "the best dam* band in the land". I had to begrudgingly respect what they had, and I've never really been into band stuff to begin with.

TBH, most B1G schools have really good bands, and their overall pageantry is probably the best of the major conferences. I went to grad school at Michigan State, and they had a very good band, and it got the fans fired up at football games. There is nothing quite like a football game on a crispy Midwestern afternoon in the fall, with the changing leaves, the smells of bbq smoke from the tailgating, and the game experience/pageantry.
