Pope won't ever do anything at BYU until he brings in someone that can run a real offense. BYU needs to run a disciplined offense to ever be good. Pope is the epitome of throwing together a bunch of guys, playing hard defense and hoping it sticks. That's simply not going to work consistently enough at BYU for him to ever really be successful. I will gladly eat my words if I am wrong but I am not wrong.
In football, the same is true for Sitake and the defense. Until he actually brings in someone that can run a real defense, the ceiling is average at best.
BYU is going to learn the very hard way that the BYU way doesn't work in major conferences. If BYU doesn't make major investments in both programs this offseason, BYU is going to really struggle the first 3-5 years in both sports in the Big XII.
