Mostly interested in cow elk because in my experience they’re the least gamey. My dad likes to hunt so I’m thinking it is something I could do with him. He hasn’t looked at what’s available for gear in like 20 years though, so I’m coming to my only other friend group for some advice.

First question: I know it’s not suitable for bull elk, but would a 6.5 creedmoor rifle suffice for a cow elk?

Second: what should be on my list of things that I need to get before my first outing? Also what things should I make sure I practice or get comfortable with before I go out? I’ll be going with my dad who’s been a lot so I won’t be totally lost, but still would love some pointers.
