Is responsible for having our safeties consistently line up 25 yards down the field. Too deep for run support in most cases and too deep to help cover the intermediate zone, especially over the middle. The safeties not only line up deep but they back peddle even with the end zone as their back shield. Granted the players at safety opposite Harper don’t have D1 speed or talent. I’m sure we’d probably see some deep passes if we didn’t play them so deep. But we’d also be better against the run and over the middle if they weren’t so deep. This is not to mention continuing to play them 20 yards deep at the end of the games when we know the other team is trying to run out the clock and we need a stop, or on short downs when it’s likely a run.
