He tried a lot of running back power on short downs early in the season and it didn’t work. See ND and EC games. He then pivoted to running Jaren more with mixed results. He also tried some end arounds and throws.
But my point is that many were saying just to hand it off to Brooks after the Stanford. Sounds good and I don’t necessarily disagree but they did try and fail with that as well earlier in the year. You have to mix it up on short downs because defenses will play to your tendency.
If anything, Arod needs to look at an I formation with the qb under center and a fb in the backfield to lead block. You can power run and play action off that to good effectiveness.
