- 6 highest ranked conference champions go no matter what. That means you'd have the P5 champions + the highest ranked non-P5 champion. That's massive for the MWC, Sun Belt, AAC.
- The remaining 6 teams are the highest ranked non-champions. You'll likely have 3 or 4 total SEC teams each year.

- First round games are either hosted by the higher ranked team (conference champion doesn't matter, unlike the NFL), OR a field designated by the higher ranked team. (I assume an NFL field if they feel like it's too cold on their home field or something). Conference champions don't matter in terms of hosting.

- The 4 quarterfinal and two semi final games will always be bowls.

- Other bowl games will just be going on like normal while the playoff is proceeding (likely during the week while the playoff games are on Saturdays).
