Except for his expiring contract. Suns also would’ve had to include Saric to match the salaries. I think they certainly would’ve done the trade if all Utah wanted were those 2. Jazz wanted a 1st and I don’t think the suns wanted to trade 2 assets for 1. That’s when, according to reports, the suns also wanted Vanderbilt back.

That’s my guess at least. Based on what Utah ultimately got for him, I think Crowder and a 1st would’ve been an overpay. Olynyk isn’t better than Crowder yet the suns would’ve had to give up additional stuff.

The suns would obviously be better right now if they made the trade, but too early to tell if ultimately it was the right call or not. Maybe they get Bojan from Detroit without using a pick…or maybe they use their pick(s) to add an even better player(s). We will see.
