I wish people understood that blitzing on every play is a horrible idea.
Also blitzing for the sake of blitzing is bad for a rush defense. It only, potentially, gets the ball out of the Qb’s hand quicker. It also puts LBs and DBs in a position where they are 1v1 and must make a tackle in space.
I saw a lot of undisciplined defense last season. I think Jay Hill will be great for BYU, but I think he’s just trying to placate the BYU fans at this point. He will be a great teacher and demand a lot from his players, but don’t be surprised if he rushes 4 on most plays either.
