Go ahead and donate to charity at cash registers. The business gets no cash or tax advantage out of it
Not CSoul’s fault, this is a very common misconception for some reason. But it’s absolutely not true. The business collects your money and donates it. Only you get the charitable deduction on your taxes, if you chose to report it and itemize deductions.

Any benefit to the business is indirect from helping to promote and collect the donations. They are not “double dipping.”
