Where did you have your pedometer on your body?
If it was on your waist it would not have picked up much on the movement in your upper body. You could clip it onto your glove and then it will pick up on your upper body as well. Really though wearing some thing more advanced than a basic pedometer is best. Lots of people wear fitness tracking watches. They pick up on steps, HR, some do oxygen levels and GPS tracking and even EKG strips.
