I don't think they will be forgotten, but I am surprised at how (comparatively) little R.E.M.is talked about by people
in general, given how 1. Big they were and 2. influential they were at the time.
For example, R.E.M. and U2 were basically contemporaries. They were formed at about the same time and both had their greatest success in the late 80s and early 90s. U2 admittedly reached greater heights of popularity, but R.E.M. had a huge following and was, IMO, more influential musically. But on CB you probably have at least 20 U2 threads to 1 R.E.M. thread (even if the thread is about how overrated U2 is).
