IN 4x400, you only have lane assignments at the start and on exchanges.
It's part of what makes it such a cool and unique events. The exchanges can be crazy. They slot you for the exchanges by the place your team is in. Even that can change, between the time you are slotted, and the time you receive the baton.

Very cool, but can someone explain the rule of you depart your lane? When she fell she appears to have left the lane.
