In each of my fainting episodes, I was not lightheaded, I didn’t feel it coming on — I just came too very slowly and felt very disoriented and sick overall. The best way to describe it is I just blacked out — like a light switch being turned off.
My most recent episode was last month when I woke up on my living room floor. That one was very unsettling as the process of regaining consciousness and all my faculties was a bit slow and dragged on while I was aware. I woke up to a pool of blood so my home looked like a murder scene after stumbling to my back deck when coming to.
I blacked out on a flight from Denver to DC once. I woke up to a crowd around me which contributed to me nearly transitioning to a panic attack. They told me they were going to divert the plane for an emergency landing but I explained it had happened before so I didn’t want them to land somewhere randomly. I was met at the gate by probably 8-12 medical responders.
I’ve woke up around 2am to a panic attack. Most fearful event of my life by a long shot.
Anyway, the human body is amazing but we can also do damage or cause damage to ourselves that is extremely difficult to understand and address. I’m still trying to figure out why I’ll just blackout on occasions.
