Philly has the best record since the start of the new year, and Brooklyn still has the 6th best record this season despite KD’s prolonged absence. We’d be lucky if that pick isn’t 27th or later.
Minnesota is finally above .500, was 11-5 in January, and will get KAT back eventually, which should make them better (though it’s KAT so who knows, maybe he makes them worse). With how close the standings currently are there’s a pretty wide range on where that pick ends up, but I’d guess the late teens.
Utah is currently .500 and in the nine seed (tied with New Orleans). There are plenty of teams right behind them that want to win, or at least did when the season began (Portland, Toronto, LAL, New Orleans, Chicago) as well as teams that could sell, but seem to want to win (Washington, OKC, Indiana). Really only the bottom five teams seem set in their losing ways, so there is plenty of room to fall if the Jazz decide to do so. I’d guess the Jazz end up right outside the play-in, around pick 9 or 10.
