I am a family friend of the McManus', this is a great get for BYU. He didn't play football his Junior year to focus on basketball, but got big in that year; coaches talked to him and he ended up playing his senior year and he did really well on a bad HS team (often double or triple teamed at the wrong position). He played sophomore, but was a backup qb and played some TE. If he had played all three years or at least on a better team, his "stars" would have been higher.
On a side note, in response to LeGrandBleu, the resemblance to Caleb Lohner is real enough that there was a youth in UT county who asked for Mav's autograph, bc he thought Mav was Lohner...Mav didn't know how to spell Lohner's name, but couldn't disappoint the kid...some kid has Kaleb Loner's autograph.

Mav's a great young man from an awesome family; he'll be a great missionary and come back to a D-line that will love him.
