I don't think it's bad for building a program. Think of how much time, energy...
...and resources they are saving on high school recruiting. Especially when you think about all the is wasted when the kid transfers 4 months after he gets to campus. And/Or doesn't pan out.

I'm waiting for Olympic sport coaches to start doing this.

It will be risky, but genius.

Five Ohio State starting volleyball players entered the transfer portal last month, after making the elite-8 because OSU didn't have enough scholarships to give them because of incoming high-schoolers.

If a college volleyball coach was going 100% portal, he'd have a final-four team in 2023 by snagging all five of those those OSU transfers.
