My boss is attempting to fly my remote team in for some impromptu non essential meetings next month..I warned him back in November that he needs to put something in the calendar sooner rather than later but he insisted I was being overly cautious.

Fast forward and he submitted the budget estimate Friday and flight costs are through the roof. SVP is now involved telling him he needs to cut costs. They just messaged me today (this is traditionally not acceptable in my department) informing me that I will need to be prepared to take 5 am flight out on a Monday morning from an airport 100 miles from my home just to save the company $110 on a flight from my home airport. We will discuss more tomorrow but I'm so blown away at the complete inability of this group to arrange simple travel for 5 people. Not sure how I am going to approach "discussions" tomorrow.
