This isn't FPI, but if you average each conference over the last 5 years based
on ther Massey Composite ranking averages (they rank each conference at the bottom of the list), you get the following averages:
**Note: The rankings are based on conference affiliation in the year the ranking was taken (So the Sun Belt's 2022 ranking is with different teams than their prior rankings, etc.)
1. SEC: 39.12
2. Big 12: 43.09
3. Big Ten: 48.36
4. PAC-12: 55.94
5. ACC: 56.82
6. American: 69.44
7. MWC: 77.50
8. Sun Belt: 80.78
9. MAC: 89.04
10. CUSA: 92.32
As to the Big Ten only being in third - it's because they are a very top-heavy league. Top tier teams in Ohio St, Michigan, Penn St. are countered by consistently crappy teams like Rutgers and Illinois.
