USC is by far the biggest football brand in California, and is more popular in San Diego than SDSU. San Diego has a lot of transplants, and many of them have brought their loyalties to colleges in other parts of the country. Very few people outside of San Diego County even care about SDSU, so all of this talk about bringing the Southern California market is laughable.
